How Can You Benefit From SEAI Grants?

SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) grants are aimed at encouraging homeowners, businesses and communities to reduce their energy costs and greenhouse emissions. There are a wide range of SEAI grants available to homeowners who choose to upgrade their heating methods in order to make them more energy efficient. This means that by choosing to use energy efficient home heating methods, you could well be rewarded with a government financial incentive

What SEAI Grants Are Available?

In order to help you find out the SEAI grants that may be beneficial to you, we’ve sourced some of the main options that are currently available for upgrading your home heating system. These are the SEAI grants 2021 that you could benefit from:

Heat Pump System Grant

Heat pumps are energy efficient heating systems that lower energy costs and reduce carbon emissions. The SEAI are offering €3,500 towards the cost of an air to water heat pump. If you complete multiple home energy upgrades, they will also increase this value.

All homeowners (including landlords), whose homes were built and occupied before 2011 are eligible to apply for this SEAI grant. However, a technical assessment must be carried out by an independent SEAI registered technical advisor who will advise you on any steps that you need to take in order to make your home ready for the installation of a heat pump. They’ll need to ensure that your home is well insulated and has low heat loss so that the system performs to a good level. Hitachi Heat Pump Units on a white background

If you’re not quite sure of the benefits of air to water heat pumps, and how they work, allow us to explain briefly. An air to water heat pump works by transforming energy in the outside air into usable heat. Unlike traditional boilers that operate at high temperatures, an air to water heat system can extract heat from the air even when the temperature is as low as -15°C. You can read more about this in our previous article on ‘How Does An Air To Water Heat Pump Work?’

At Pipelife Eco we have both monobloc and split heat pumps available to suit different homes. These are the Hitachi Yutaki-S Split Combi Heat Pump and the Midea M Thermal Mono-Bloc Heat Pump. Our friendly team of experts can advise you on the best option for your home, as well as assisting you with the process of applying for SEAI grants.

Solar Water Heating Grants

Solar thermal systems are an eco-friendly way of heating your home as they transform energy from the sun into hot water for your property. This helps to cut down on greenhouse gases and reduce your home energy consumption.

This SEAI grant offers €1200 to help cover the cost of installing a thermal solar system in your home. As with the heat pump SEAI grant, homeowners or landlords whose property was built and occupied prior to 2011 are eligible to apply, subject to planning permission and compliance checks.

How To Apply For An SEAI Grant

In order to decide on the best energy efficiency upgrades for your home, it’s recommended that you carry out a BER assessment. Once you have decided on the upgrades you would like to go ahead with, you can apply for the relevant grant online or by post.

To find out more about the current SEAI grants that are available, you can explore the SEAI official website here. If you have any questions regarding the grants or the energy efficient home heating options we have available at Pipelife Eco, please don’t hesitate to get in touch
